National Cyclists Union Ltd Official Quarters Enamel Advertising Sign - circa early 1900s

A rare genuine antique enamel sign, designed with strong yellow text and border, with the text set in the spokes of a wheel with cogs detail.

The Bicycle Union was formed in 1878. It amalgamated with the Tricycle Association in 1882, and in 1883 was re-named the National Cyclists' Union. With effect from 1 January 1935 it became a company limited by guarantee, and in 1959 it amalgamated with the British League of Racing Cyclists to form the British Cycling Federation.

In good overall condition, this sign is made in ceramic enamel with some rust and chipping, but still displays very nicely.

Measures: 46cm / 18" in diameter.
